Teen Reporter Desiree G. (a budding success story of her own as the Youth of the Year at the BGCs of Pueblo Pojoaque, N.M.) was on hand last week to capture the stories and intrigues of the Alumni Hall of Fame class during the 2013 BGCA National Conference in Orlando, Fla. The eight-member class includes legendary baseball star Frank Robinson, Congressman Joaquin Castro (Texas), R&B singer/songwriter Raphael Saadiq and astronaut Capt. Winston Scott.
We
would like to give an ENORMOUS Thank You to Staples and everyone that
was involved in our Staples Tech Grant Shopping Spree! We bought baskets
full of essential products we need at our club.

A big Thanks to Hannah Edwards! Hannah was a former club member and was a Stardancer. She is now a Junior at St. Micheal's High School and has been volunteering here for the past 3 weeks. She comes every day after school, until we close. Thanks Hannah!

The Lock-Up is the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s premier fundraising
program. Business and community leaders agree
to be "put behind bars for good," where they utilize use their vendors,
co-workers, family and friends to get donations that will go toward
their "bail.”
All funds raised by the MDA Lock-Up assist the Association in providing
lifesaving research, a nationwide network of medical clinics and
accessible summer camp experiences to individuals and families affected
by neuromuscular diseases.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America has joined forces with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program and Samsung. Our first challenge was the Team ENERGY STAR Poster Contest, designed to give Club members a chance to design a poster that describes their ideas for saving energy.
One grand prize winner was chosen from each age group (6-9, 10- 12, and 13-18). Our very own Shanya Mascarenas, 9, received a Samsung Galaxy Tab and a Samsung flat screen TV for our Club! Great Job Shanya!
Our Newest Employee!
Congratulations to our newest employee! Claudia Rosacker started volunteering every day after school back in April. After lots of hard work and dedication she made junior staff on June 22 and today we are awarding her for all her hard work with a paid position! You're a great role model for any members that want to become Junior Staff. Great work Claudia!
