Tamara Johnson awarded a Full Ride Scholarship to Marquette University! 


Go Golden Eagles!

Tamara was one of three recipients nationwide to receive this scholarship.  Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Marquette University established the scholarship to honor those students who have chosen to Be The Difference in their community and, in turn, the world.

Tamara rings the Closing Bell of the New York Stock Exchange and is featured in an interview on Fox Business Live!


On Monday, April 26, 18-year-old Tamara Johnson of Santa Fe, N.M., rang the NYSE Closing Bell in honor of being named the 2010 National Ambassador for the successful Money Matters: Make it Count financial literacy program, sponsored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Charles Schwab Foundation.

She closes out her trip with another television interview on Tuesday morning before getting on a plane to come back to us here in New Mexico!

Our very own Tamara Johnson, Youth Leader Assistant and
Pojoaque Valley High School Senior has been chosen
for the prestigious honor of serving as the
National Ambassador for Boys & Girls Clubs of America's
Money Matters: Make it Count program.

As
the 2010 Money Matters Ambassador, Tamara will attend various events on behalf of BGCA and the program to speak about the importance of financial education for teens. Her first trip will be to New York later this month to ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange and close the day's trading session.

Tamara also received a $10,000 scholarship from Charles Schwab Foundation, sponsor of the
Money Matters program.

Kool & the Gang visit!






Blue Star Moms are mothers of military personnel stationed overseas.   Their organization helps collect items for the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. They borrowed our club to collect items and fill boxes to send out to the troops for Christmas.

Summer 2009 at the Pueblo of Pojoaque Boys & Girls Club...

Interviews with past and present members of the Pojoaque Boys & Girls Club reveal what the club means to them. Sprinkled amongst the interviews are some highlights of our 2009 summer program at the club. Thanks to everyone - staff and members - that helped make this summer GREAT!

Most especially, thanks to our Executive Director Mr. Don Christy who inspires us with his dedication and devotion to the club and its members everyday. This film is dedicated to him.

End of the Summer...
Well, our summer program finished with a bang!  You can check out pictures from our family fun day here!  Look for a movie of all our summer fieldtrips coming soon too!  Our after school program will officially start on August 30th.

New Junior Staff
Congrats to our newest Junior Staff: Giselle Sevilla!  She's worked very hard the past few months and has definitely earned her spot on the staff.  Welcome!

Child Safety Day
This Wednesday was our 11th annual Child Safety Day.  There were over 12 different police, sheriff and fire departments on site giving demonstrations and valuable info...thanks to all those that came by to share their knowledge!

4th of July Fireworks Show
Congrats to the winners of our door prizes this year - Isaiah Martinez, Miguel Lujan, and Dominic Medina each got a $50 gift certificates to Factory Fireworks!

After School Registration
Begins on Tuesday July 20th at 7:30am and runs thru Friday July 30th at 3:00pm.  This is for current members only.  Open registration will be announced at a later date provided there is room available.  Thank you!

2010 Teacher of the Year
Mr. Albert Fernandez, a teacher of 32 years, was honored as our 3rd Annual Teacher of the Year at the Senior Awards night May 27th.

Scholarship Deadline
Don't miss out on money for college! Our Buffalo Thunder Scholarship deadline is Thurs, Apr 29th.  Applications can be found online.

Summer Registration
For current club members, summer registration starts Wed, Apr 21st and ends on Fri, May 7th.  You'll need to have your registration form completed and the first week's payment.  Don't miss out...this summer is going to be a blast!


Open Registration
For those that are not currently club members, open registration for our summer program will be on Tuesday May 18th at 10 am provided there is space available.  You will need to be here at the club to sign your child up or place them on the waiting list.  Sorry, but we cannot take any registrations by phone.

Easter Egg Hunt
Our 11th Annual Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success! Over 12,000 eggs were filled and 300 prizes were given away! Don't miss the movie!


March Drawing
Congrats to Isaiah M. who won the drawing this month and gets to take home all the goodies at the end of the rainbow!


2010 National Keystone Conference

Kool & the Gang Visit!
The band took time out from their busy concert schedule to stop by the club and visit with members and their families on Saturday Feb 27th.  They even invited 30 of our club members to come to their concert that evening.  Now that's the definition of "Kool!"
